Preventative Dentistry in London

Woman receiving dental hygiene treatment

Regular preventative dentistry appointments are important for your oral health. Professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar that can’t be removed by brushing and flossing, and dental exams let your dentist detect and treat problems before they get worse. We recommend that you come for a preventative dentistry appointment every six months.

Oral Hygiene

A hygienist will deep clean your teeth to remove any built-up plaque that couldn’t be removed by brushing and flossing. They’ll also use a scaler to remove tartar from above your gum line and will finish by using a polisher to remove stains.

Dental Exam

A dental exam usually includes a thorough examination of your mouth, gums, and teeth. This lets us detect early signs of decay, infection, and other issues. We’ll also perform a screening for oral cancer. Oral cancer is a potentially lethal cancer that affects the throat and mouth. Early detection of pre-cancerous lesions raises the chance of successful treatment so it’s important to be screened at least once a year.
